MBTA to Move on From 'Honor Box' Pay System
Many utilize the archaic process to pay off parking fees.

Commuters will soon no longer be able to find the “honor box” payment system at their nearest T station.
The archaic parking payment process will be replaced by an “easier, more convenient” method, the MBTA said in a statement Monday.
For years, commuters were forced to fold up dollar bills and stuff them into a tiny box in order to pay the day’s parking fee.

“PayByPhone” will be the lone payment process come July 6th. The system allows customers to pay parking fees by using any phone or device with internet access.
The MBTA says more than 75% of customers who park in honor box lots already utilize PayByPhone.

The MBTA will mail a monthly invoice to the address listed on a vehicle owner’s registration if a customer chooses not to sign up for PayByPhone.
PayByPhone customers will be able to make payments over the phone or by using the system’s mobile app. Customers can sign up here.
