MGH Institute Makes an IMPACT in Charlestown

Students from local graduate school work with non-profits during annual Community IMPACT Day

More than 150 students from MGH Institute of Health Professions visited 19 non-profits and other community groups September 16 during the graduate school’s fifth annual Community IMPACT Day. The students provided healthy living strategies, cleaned up parks, made blankets with seniors, read stories to children, painted rooms, and scrubbed boats among other activities.

Locations served included AccessSports America at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and Charlestown High School, Charlestown Boys and Girls Club, National Park Service in the Navy Yard, Children’s Quarters, Captain’s Quarters, Charlestown Public Library, Boston Centers for Youth and Families - Charlestown Community Center, Charlestown Nursery Center, Charlestown Substance Abuse Coalition, Charlestown YMCA, Courageous Sailing Center, Dennis McLaughlin House, Special Townies, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Charlestown Senior Housing at Robert A. Georgine Towers (100 Ferrin Street), Harvard-Kent Elementary School, Harvest on Vine Food Pantry, and Zelma Lacey House.
