Public Swim Event to be Held at Charles River

The July event will mark the third annual gathering at the Charles River.

The Charles River Conservancy will be hosting its third annual public swim event in the waters of one of Boston’s most well-known landmarks come July.

The conservancy is holding a special event that will allow swimmers to take a dip in the Charles River, the Boston Globe reports. According to the conservancy, the waters of the river are now clean enough to reasonably host swimmers.

Swimmers will be allowed to to dive in on July 14, from 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., and then again on July 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Folks will have to sign up for the event ahead of time in order to secure a spot.

“We just want the river to be open and accessible for people,” said SJ Port, a spokeswoman for the conservancy, told the Globe.

The event will be free of charge, but those who attend are encouraged to make a donation to help make the event possible in future years. It was first held in 2013.
