Reminder: MBTA to Retire 'Honor Box' Pay System Monday
Commuters can now pay parking fees on a phone or any internet-connected device.

The MBTA is retiring their archaic “honor box” payment system in an effort to become more modern. Come Monday morning, the tiny pay stations will be gone from all MBTA parking lots across the state.
For many years, commuters at unstaffed MBTA parking lots were forced to fold up their money and stuff it into tiny slots in order to pay for their daily parking fees. Now the only payment option will be PaybyPhone.
PaybyPhone allows commuters to pay parking fees on a mobile phone or any internet-connected device. Cash customers are encouraged to consider the method. Monthly parking passes are also available for purchase.
