Charlestown's Forecast: Storm to Bring Weekend Rain and Wind

Heavy rain, high wind and periods of downpours are expected on Sunday.

A stormy weekend is in line for much of the state of Massachusetts, according to the National Weather Service’s latest forecast. Rain, wind and intermittent downpours, will move through the area. There will be a possible chance for thunder.

Friday will be partly cloudy with temperatures nearing 70. A few scattered showers will move through. Before the storm hits, Saturday will start off partly cloudy, but with highs hitting the low 50s.

The storm is expected to move in overnight during Sunday’s early morning hours. The heaviest of the rain will begin to fall between midnight and 9 a.m. Periods of downpours will accompany. Wind gusts could hit 30 mph at times.

A thunderstorm or two could pop up as well as the storm tracks through. Temperatures will climb into the low 70s.

“Everyone’s going to get good, heavy rain,” weather service meteorologist Alan Dunham said of the storm. Dunham believes most areas will see 1 to 2 inches of rain.

Rain will let up come Sunday evening. Showers are expected before skies turn partly cloudy overnight. Temperatures will drop into the low 60s.
