Tobin Bridge Work to Begin This Week, Last to 2019
There will be temporary lane closures as crews work to restore and repair the nearly 70-year-old bridge.

A Tobin Bridge repair and restoration project for the Charlestown portion will begin this week, MassDOT said.
Crews will be working on the section of the bridge which carries Route 1 over the Mystic River and between Charlestown and Chelsea.
The $15.6 million project will include "structural steel repairs as well as cleaning and painting the steel and railings on the upper and lower levels in order to preserve the bridge," according to MassDOT.
