The young boy landed on a carpenter's tarp below.

A carpenter working late into the night Wednesday is to thank after a toddler in East Boston fell from a third-floor deck.
The 16-month-old boy landed on a carpenter’s tarp below, preventing him from hitting the ground at full force.

“I was working on the stairs and I felt something hit me on the back. I think the baby hit the tarp, then me on the back, then rolled over to the ground,” Martinez told WCVB-TV.
The toddler was bleeding a bit and crying after the fall, according to Martinez. He was transported to Mass. General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
