Top Stories: Man Killed on Bunker Hill Street

And the conversation around 40 Warren Street continues.

We know it’s easy to fall behind on the news. If you have, here are our top five stories of the week.

1. Man shot, killed on Bunker Hill Street. Boston Police said a black male victim in his 20s was (near the intersection with Lexington Street) around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The victim was transported to Mass. General Hospital and pronounced dead. No arrests have been made yet, and the victim's identity has not been released, but the department is investigating this shooting as to two earlier shooting instances near the same location.

2. Neighbors make 11th hour stand against 40 Warren expansion, may extend conversation. More than two dozen residents attended a subcommittee meeting Tuesday to oppose the Neighborhood Council’s support for the project, which is supposed to appear before the zoning board of appeals Tuesday morning. The building owner, Vahid Nickpour, said Friday that he had not decided to allow conversation around the project to continue.

3. New face in Charlestown. Your founding editor, Kristi Ceccarossi, has been to a leadership position within Patch, and I, , have been brought in to replace her. I look forward to getting to know you and Charlestown as I learn my new post.

4. Mayor moving toward Occupy eviction. In a move expected by the Occupy Boston protesters downtown, the mayor has started to evict them. A judge later said she would reserve judgment until mid December, extending the conflict over Dewey Square for at least another two weeks.

5. City Council: advertising on city websites could boost revenue.  City Councilor Robert Consalvo said Wednesday that businesses should be able to as a way to boost revenue. The city already permits ads on Boston's buses and trains, he noted, and the state is on board with programs like Adopt-a-Highway, which works with corporate sponsorships.
