Veterans Day Commemoration in Charlestown
Councilor Lydia Edwards Joins members of JW Conway Bunker Hill Post 26 American Legion for the Veterans Mass at St Francis DeSales
Charlestown Veterans were remembered today at a special church service sponsored by the American legion. City Councilor Lydia Edwards attended the service and joined the congregation for coffee and refreshments in Bishop Lawton Hall. The Mass was conducted by Father Danial Mahoney, pastor of St Francis. The members of the James W Conway Bunker Hill Post 26 invite Charlestown residents to join them each year on Memorial Day and Veterans Day for these observances. The post which was founded by World War One veterans from Charlestown will be celebrating it's one hundredth anniversary in 2019. Membership is open to veterans. The public is also encouraged to join the Sons of the American Legion or the independently chartered Women's Auxiliary. If you have a grand father or great uncle that served in World War One help us commemorate the 100th anniversary.
