Want Townies To Hit The Polls? Check Out Vote Charlestown's Advice

Charlestown's newest political action committee has some quick tips for getting out the vote.

From Vote Charlestown:

With 6 days until the election and a growing buzz, here are some ways that interested friends can help:

  • Get 10 Friends to Vote:  It is not enough if just the usual super voters show up. Only 1500-2000 of the over 10,000 registered Charlestown voters, typically vote. Email, call and talk to everyone you know. Send the Vote Charlestown Chain Email to 10 Friends. We need the least likely voters to get out.
  • Get the Word Out: What? Municipal non-partisan city council elections. When?  It is Tuesday, November 8th. Why? It impacts quality of life in Charlestown.
  • Get to Know the Candidates: For a full list of candidates, see http://www.cityofboston.gov/elections/
  • Get to the Polls: Charlestown has 4 voting places. The Edwards, The Harvard Kent, The Zelma Lacey House and the Golden Age Center. To find out where you vote, http://www.cityofboston.gov/elections/
  • Get Real: Most people say they vote, but the numbers and the public voting records speak for themselves. It doesn't matter if you voted before. It matters if you vote the 8th. No one else can make sure that you get counted.
  • Get Every Voter Out on November 8th! Remind people on the 8th. Bring friends to the polls with you. Make it the event not to miss.

Reminder: There will be a standout beginning in Thompson Square on Saturday morning at 8am. Vote Charlestown will have stickers and flyers.
