5 Things to Look Forward to Post-Election

Where do we go from here?

Now that the election is over and the people have spoken, we're looking ahead at what comes next for Chelmsford. Here are some things to look forward to.

1. Town Meeting. It's going to be an interesting night at Town Meeting on April 30, when Town Meeting Reps take up the Fire Station. The Fire Station article will require a two-thirds vote to pass. Next Wednesday, Town Moderator Dick DeFreitas is going to hold a 

2. Campaign Finance Reports. Final reports from candidates in the election are due April 23. It's always interesting to see how candidates spent money and who they took money from during election season. For the first financial reports,

3. Re-Organizing. The School Committee met this morning to re-organize and elected Janet Askenberg chairman of the School Committee. Mike Rigney was elected vice chairman of the School Committee. Evelyn Thoren was elected clerk of the School Committee. The Board of Selectmen will meet tonight at 6 to re-organize. Will there be a big shake-up? Stay tuned in to Patch to find out. 

4. New Town Meeting Reps. Quiet a few new Town Meeting reps were elected into office yesterday, and that means new faces at Town Meeting. Congratulations and welcome to the world of being an elected official.

5. Town projects moving forward. Renovations of the Old Town Hall, North Town Hall, and First Parish Church are moving along; should it be passed at town meeting, the new Fire Station renovations will also start to come together. These restoration projects are what makes Chelmsford a true community and we're excited to see the finished products.
