Align Credit Union Launches Mobile Payment Options and Credit Card Enhancements

Align Members can now pay for purchases with Apple Pay™ using their iPhone® 6, iPhone 6 Plus or Apple Watch at any participating merchant’s contactless reader. They can also use Apple Pay™ on a smartphone, iPad Air™ or iPad Mini™ to pay with a single touch within shopping apps. Members using Apple Pay™ are protected against fraud because their name, Align card number and security code stay private and are not stored on the phone or shared with the merchant.

Align Members can also use Google Wallet™ to make purchases. Members simply download Google Wallet™ to their smartphone and upload their Align VISA® Credit Card. Members can shop wherever Google Wallet™ is accepted and make purchases without swiping their card. Google Wallet™ also allows Members to safely link store loyalty cards and gift cards as well.

“It made sense to add both Apple Pay and Google Wallet as more and more of our Members are using mobile devices for their banking needs,” said Align EVP/CFO Tom Hammond. “With this technology, you don’t share your physical credit or debit card with the retailer which builds in an additional layer of fraud protection for our Members.”

Align has also enhanced its VISA® Signature Credit Card and VISA® Platinum Credit Cards with the addition of the alerts feature. Members now have the option to sign up for text and/or email alerts regarding their credit card. Members can get alerts about transaction activity, including if a purchase exceeds a specific dollar amount or was made outside of the United States, as well as account reminders relating to statement availability and payment due dates. The alert options are designed to help Members manage their finances and help detect fraud.
