Free and Reduced Price Cats at Lowell Humane Society

 The Lowell Humane Society in Lowell, MA and Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society in Salisbury, MA today announced that they are one of 55 animal rescue organizations receiving grant funding to participate in the first ever ASPCA ‘Mega Match-a-thon’ event, which will take place in late March and early April. The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) is granting nearly $500,000 to support large-scale adoption events held simultaneously nationwide in an effort to save the lives of shelter animals. “The ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon is a great opportunity for our community to help many wonderful cats find loving homes,” said Jill O’Connell, Executive Director of The Lowell Humane Society. “Teaming up with Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society means we can have an even bigger impact.”

The shelters will be busy getting all of their cats and kittens spayed or neutered and vaccinated to prepare all the animals for the adoption weekend. The shelters are excited about the special adoption campaigns they will host as well. “We are being creative with our adoption themes by hosting Midnight Meow-ness at Lowell Humane Society, where our doors will open at midnight on Thursday! We are looking forward to the new faces these promotions will bring into our shelters,” says Chris Arnott, Outreach Coordinator for the Humane Society “If it’s not the right time for you to adopt, you can still help us save lives by sharing our event with friends, family and your community by hanging posters and sharing the events on your Facebook walls, Twitter feeds and websites.”

The Lowell Humane Society will offer fee waived adoptions on Thursday, March 29th at Midnight, $5 Felines on Friday, March 30th from noon-5pm, $25 adoption fees on Saturday, March 31st from noon-4pm and half off adoption fees on Sunday, April 1st from noon-4pm. All adopters from Lowell Humane Society will also be entered to win a pair of Red Sox Tickets! All adoption promotions are for cats 1 year or older and adoptions are subject to an approved application, submit your application for preapproval starting March 21st.
