Applicants Needed for Vacancy on Finance Committee

Apply to help the town by serving on the Finance Committee.

Town Moderator Dick Defreitas will look to appoint a resident to the Finance Committee after Tim McIllvenna has resigned from the board.

The unexpired term is from August 15 through June 30, 2013.

"This is a perfect opportunity for someone to apply since the term will encompass the great majority of the FinCom’s annual schedule," said Defreitas. "If appointed you will then be eligible for reappointment for a full 3-year term commencing July 1, 2013."

Defreitas said almost any resident of Chelmsford is qualified to serve as long as applicants can understand budgets and financial reports.

"Even though the FinCom serves Town Meeting, you do not have to be a Town Meeting Member," he said.

Defreitas said this is not a political appointment.

"As your Town Moderator, I will not consider applicants that have an obvious political agenda. I am looking for talented applicants who truly want to contribute their time in a truly non-political fashion," he said.

Defreitas asks that when applying, residents should do the following 3-steps (even if they have previously applied in the past):

  •  Include a cover letter as to why and what you believe you can contribute to the FinCom.
  • Include a resume with your pertinent experiences… include service to the other towncommittees
  • Fill out a committee application form which is available from the Town Clerk or the Town’s web site

Please send the completed application to  rdefreitas@townofchelmsford.us or drop it off at the Town Manager’s office by August 24.

"I expect to fill this position by September 1, 2012," he said.

If you have any questions, please call Defreitas at 978-846-0033.
