BBB Tracks Over 1,145 Scams With New Tool

Consumers and business owners now have a new tool to report the unwanted activities of phony IRS calls, spam text messages, phishing emails and other scams. BBB’s Scam Tracker has received over 1,145 reports of scams across the United States since its inception.

The tool is searchable by name of scam, scam type, state and other terms. BBB’s Scam Tracker also provides users with an interactive map that shows the location of reported scams.

BBB is encouraging consumers and businesses to go online to report any instances of a scam they’ve witnessed or have been victim to. With the help of the public, BBB will be able to report on thousands of scams across the United States.

“Consumers can go on our website and read that someone else reported the exact same scam. They can see that someone lost, or could’ve potentially lost, thousands of dollars,” said Paula Fleming, spokesperson for the local BBB. “Consumers can also see what scams are trending in their area.”
