Billerica Rainbow Girls Donate Fleece Blankets to Winchester Breast Cancer Center
Billerica Rainbow focuses on community service projects, fundraising for various causes and leadership training for girls ages 11 and up.
The Billerica Assembly of The International Order of Rainbow for Girls recently donated 50 ”Wrapped in Love” fleece blankets to the Winchester Breast Cancer Center in Winchester, MA.
The “Wrapped in Love” fleece blankets were a service project organized by the outgoing Worthy Advisor, Shelby B. The Assembly raised the funds to purchase the fleece and at an overnight event, worked together to assemble the blankets. Then on Friday, 6/19th a few of the girls went to deliver them to the cancer center in person.
One of the many aspects of a Rainbow Girl is to work on community service projects like this with various organizations each year. They learn to work together on a project while building life-long friendships in their Assembly and across the country. Billerica Rainbow’s current members are from Billerica, Tyngsboro, Westford, Lowell, Wilmington and surrounding towns.
