We have the funniest looking chicken I've ever seen.
Actually, I'm pretty sure my other seven chickens don't even see her as an actual chicken. When I had brought my three newest chickens home to introduce them to the flock, I was expecting the absolute worst! I had read that chickens could be downright vicious when new birds are brought into an existing flock.
The first week I had to keep the new chickens separated with netting in the pen so they wouldn't be attacked by original 'gang of five'. I had read that Polish chickens are always picked on because of their crazy head feathers (see picture). When the netting was finally lifted, the gang of five immediately went in to set the 'pecking order' straight.

I was not prepared for what happened. The two buddies of the Polish (regular looking chickens - a New Hampshire Red and a Barred Rock) were pecked and chased for several days. Lo and behold - Little Bobo (Polish) was totally left alone. The gang of five ignored her - almost as if she was invisible.
My theory was that she looks so foolish that the other chickens don't even accept her as a chicken. My son, on the other hand, loves Little Bobo, and he's totally convinced that the other chickens just see her as superior, and they don't mess with her.
