Chelmsford Company Earns $2.3 Million Order from U.S. Navy

A Chelmsford company announced on Monday that it received a massive order from the United States Navy.

According to a press release on the Mercury Systems, Inc., website, the Defense Systems subsidiary of the company received a $2.3 million delivery order from the Navy.

The order is for Digital RF Memory (DRFM) jammers that will support United States Navy and Air Force requirements, according to the company's press release.

Mercury Defense Systems president Kevin Carnino said that under this contract Mercury Systems will be producing a subset of its latest radar jamming technology.

The Chelmsford company is also expecting the release of another multi-year contract in the near future, and Mercury Systems will pursue that opportunity as well, according to Carnino.

“This award is a further acknowledgement of the Company’s continuing effort to support the warfighter,” said Carnino, according to the press release. “For over 20 years, Mercury Defense Systems’ DRFM products have been used for self-protection, vulnerability assessment, training and radar environment simulation. Our successful performance under firm fixed price contracting is the cornerstone of our business.”
