Chelmsford Police Investigating 'Bogus' Letter To Parents

Chelmsford police said they are investigating a "bogus" letter sent to the parents of a local teenager.

CHELMSFORD, MA — Chelmsford police on Wednesday issued an alert for a "bogus" letter circulating around town. The letter was sent to the parents of a local teenager, police said, and while the contents were not divulged police said it "does not accurately reflect the policies and procedures of the Chelmsford Police Department."

"The Chelmsford Police Department does not normally send any letters or correspondence by mail," police said in a statement. "The matter is being investigated by ... detectives. Please contact is if you have received a similar letter, or if you receive a letter in the future."
