Chelmsford Schools In Top 50 In Greater Boston: Rankings

CHELMSFORD, MA — Chelmsford students return to school next week — and they can take comfort in knowing their school district is one of the best in the state. Boston Magazine ranked Chelmsford No. 46 in its survey of Greater Boston public school districts. The rankings, released Sunday, were based on test scores, student-teacher ratios, class sizes and graduation rates, among other factors.

Boston Magazine reported these statistics for Chelmsford:

• Enrollment: 4,974
• Average class size: 18
• Student-teacher ratio: 13.6 to 1
• Graduation rate: 94.5 percent
• Per-pupil spending: $13,289

Boston Magazine: Best Public School Districts in Boston 2017

The Dover-Sherborn school district was ranked No. 1. This is the top 10:

3. Weston
4. Lexington
5. Wayland
6. Westford
7. Newton
8. Wellesley

10. Harvard
