Chelmsford's 6 Most Dangerous Intersections
A look at the most dangerous intersections in town.
Here's a look at the top six most dangerous intersections in Chelmsford, as given to Chelmsford Patch as a result of a traffic study. All data has been provided by the Chelmsford Police. The crashes at each site occured betweetn Jan. 1 2009 and Aug. 31, 2010.
1. The Drum Hill Road rotary. According to police, 105 crashes happened at the Drum Hill Road corridor, with 12 happening at the rotary and 10 at Parkhurst Road.
2. The Chelmsford Street corridor. Chelmsford Street is a close second, with 96 crashes during the given time period. Of those crashes, 8 were at Dalton Road, 7 were at I-495, 5 were at Stedman Street, and 4 were at Fletcher Street.

3. Billerica Road at Route 3. Police said 51 crashes happened on the Billerica Road corrido, with 19 of those at Rte. 3 and 9 at 228 Billerica Road.
4. North Road/Northern Avenue. According to police, 44 crashes happened here, including 9 at Princeton Street, 7 at the Rotary, 6 at Fletcher Street, 4 at Parkhurst Road, and 4 at Rte. 495

5. Littleton Road at Hunt Road. Police said 8 crashes happened here.
6. Old Westford Road at Davis Road. Police said 8 crashes occured here as well. Visibility at this corner is low, police said, due to a hill that makes it difficult to see oncoming traffic.
