CHS Theater and C.H.A.R.T. to Present Brighton Beach Memoirs
Chelmsford High school's theater department in collaboration with CHART Productions will be presenting Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs on October 20 and 21 at 7:30 pm at the Performing Arts Center.

The following was submitted to Chelmsford Patch.
Directed by Emily Patterson, a CHS alumnus, Brighton Beach Memoirs is Simon’s hilarious semi-autobiographical portrait of a Jewish-American family as seen through the eyes of a 15-year-old boy, Eugene Morris Jerome. In the post-depression, pre-war-era Brooklyn, the most important things on the mind of Eugene are baseball and girls. Living with other family members under one roof doesn’t afford young Eugene much privacy, but it does provide him with plenty of ammunition for his blossoming career as a writer. Through his narrative, we are introduced to his over-worked father, his under-appreciated mother, his hard working older brother Stanley, his cousins Nora and Laurie and his widowed Aunt Blanche. The resulting coming-of-age story is an affectionate, entertaining lesson in overcoming hard times with warmth, and humor.
Joining this wonderful cast of characters are high school principal Ann O’Bryant, Dean Jeff Doherty, English Teacher Margaret Blakley. The students participating in this show are Ben Sack, Cameron Zamagni, Arielle Keller, Kaleigh Bumpus, Nicole Wetherell, Julie Poulain, Maria Russo and Chris Torres. The stage manager is Devin Hoar. The set is designed and implemented by the CHS Theater Guild and the Advanced Acting Workshop.
