Community Raises Funds for Hockey Coach Battling Cancer

More than $22,000 has been raised in a little over two weeks.

The Chelmsford community is coming together to help one of their own. A GoFundMe page dedicated to help Chelmsford High School Hockey Coach Mike McGrath and his family as he battles cancer has raised more than $22,000 in just over two weeks.

Last December, McGrath was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma. In February his tumor was surgically removed and he is currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments in Boston at Mass General Hospital.

And the unwavering show of support from the community shows the team spirit of this longtime coach, Edge facility manager and father of three.
