Dear Fitness Coach,
I am a healthy eater when it comes to meals, but get derailed when it comes to snacks. I am a stay at home mom to 3 school age boys. I am running around all day, so do not have time to prepare healthy snacks. The back of my car looks like a convenience store with half eaten bags of Cheetos, hostess cupcake wrappers and m and m’s wedged in between the seats.

No reason to sacrifice healthy for convenience. You should be eating healthier not only for yourself but as a role model for your boys as well. Planning ahead and following these five ways will help you get started on clean snacking!
1. Nothing is more convenient than fruit. Pack a cooler with apples, grapes and plums.
2. Protein bars help keep the hunger at bay and can be stored in the car. My faves are Zone bars and Quest bars.
3. Make your own low calorie trail mix with raisons, almonds and Kashi brand granola style cereal. Portion control it by putting in snack bags.
4. Keep water in the car as well, and try to drink 12 ounces every two hours.
5. If you leave the house without your snacks most gas station convenience stores sell fruit and protein bars-so no excuse to head toward the chips aisle.
