Don't Labor this Week, Relax to the Smooth Tunes at Act III

Start the week in style with great jazz at Act III of Littleton

This weekend, Act III brings some great music to the neighborhood with local favorite The John Funkhouser Trio.

Friday night, John plays the piano during dinner, and then the full trio comes on at 9pm. John is usually able to draw a big crowd, so if you want to start the weekend off on the right foot, get your tickets early.

Saturday, pianist Ric Maure plays from 6 – 8 pm. Ric is the perfect background piano player. Every so often, you can pick up the riffs of popular tunes woven into his melodies. At 9 pm, the Joan Watson Jones Trio with Frank Wilkins and Alvin Terry takes over. Great jazz!

Starting off every week, is Jerry Bergonzi and his trio. Every Tuesday night, acclaimed saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi headlines at Act III. “Tenor saxophonist, Jerry Bergonzi, is an internationally recognized jazz performer, composer, author and educator. “ Playing from 8:30 – 10:30 pm, he starts the week off on the right foot! Wednesday, seasoned pianist Paul Broadnax and bassist Peter Kontrimas play from 8 – 10 pm. Enjoy the smooth jazz interpretations of these veteran musicians to get you through the remainder of the week. Come for dinner, too, and try the delicious Mediterranean/Californian cuisine of Act III. The kitchen is open until 9 pm, after that you can get a wide selection of appetizers and daily desserts specials.

Thursday, the evening starts with pianist Ted Knowlton, who plays during dinner, 6 – 8 pm. There is no cost. It is Act III’s gift to you for your continued support. Later, from 8:30 – 10:30, join international musicians with The Fernando Holz Band for some really smooth jazz.

Act III, located in a rambling old farmhouse in the heart of Littleton Common, shares its space with Gallery 529. Gallery 529 is an artists’ cooperative with more than 30 participating artists. It has paintings, pottery, jewelry, fibre art, wood turned bowls, glass creations. Currently, the juried show, “Discovery” is on exhibit. The “Discovery” show is an artist’s interpretation of the sense of awe one has when discovering something new. Come vote for your favorite piece of art – the winning artist gets a cash prize! Gallery 529 also offers workshops in the evenings for adults. Enjoy a glass of wine, do something creative, listen to great live music. If you are an artist, Gallery 529 also has a call to artists for its upcoming show, “Memories.” Starting September 1, Gallery 529 will start accepting jpeg entries. Sunday, Act III will be closed for the long weekend. Gallery 529 will be open from 12 until 4 pm.
