Dracut Bank Robbery: Arrest Made
Michael Dexter, of Lowell, was arrested in Tewksbury after robbing TD Bank in Dracut, police said.
DRACUT, MA — The suspect in Wednesday's robbery at TD Bank in Dracut was arrested in Tewksbury, police announced Thursday. Michael Dexter, 55, of Lowell, was caught driving a vehicle on Interstate 495 Thursday morning, police said. He was held in custody pending an arraignment in Lowell District Court.

Dexter robbed the Bridge Street bank Wednesday at about 1:30 p.m., according to Dracut police Chief Peter Bartlett. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers said they learned he made it to a Motel 6 in Tewksbury after the robbery. On Thursday at about 11 a.m., Tewksbury police officer Robert Bjorkgren found Dexter's vehicle on I-495, pulled him over and took him into custody, Bartlett said.
“The cooperative effort between the Dracut and Tewksbury Police Departments on this case was just superb,” Bartlett said in a statement. “Thank you to Tewksbury Police for their assistance."
