Fill Out the Town Census

The Town Clerk wants to remind you to keep your census up-to-date.

Town Clerk Onorina Maloney is reminding residents to fill out the annual town census.

Responding to the annual census will help maintain accurate population information and the allocation of state and federal funds and grants to the town, she said.

A current census also helps individuals with proof of residency for numerous personal and/or legal requirements such as in-state tuition at state colleges or universities, housing benefits for the elderly or other eligible persons, veterans’ benefits, insurance benefits and school enrollment.

By keeping your census current, you also help save the town the cost of sending each voter a mandated-by-law ‘census non- respondent card.  Currently, the town has 20% of Chelmsford’s voters that did not send in the 2012 Census...that’s a cost of over $2,600 in postcards.
