Goat on the Run Spotted in Chelmsford Thursday
Animal escaped from Tewksbury slaughterhouse last Friday.

A goat that escaped from a Tewksbury slaughterhouse last week and led residents and police on a chase through Lowell, was spotted Thursday in a Chelmsford backyard.
The goat, weighing nearly 200 pounds, escaped last Friday from a farm and slaughterhouse in Tewksbury.
Chelmsford resident Alice Johannen told the Lowell Sun Thursday she didn’t know what she was seeing when the goat was in her yard on McIntosh Road. Noticing a leash attached to the goat, she told the Sun she went out to try and catch him before he ran off into the woods behind her house.

Last week, a Lowell resident spent nearly three hours Friday night pursuing the goat. The goat made his way through an area of the city, while residents, as well as animal control officers and Lowell Police kept up the search. Despite being cornered a couple of times, the goat kept managing to evade his captors.
