Greater Lowell Tech Student Sold Pot Brownies At School: Police

A Greater Lowell Technical High School student from Dracut sold "desserts laced with marijuana" to other students, police said.

TYNGSBOROUGH, MA — A 16-year-old Greater Lowell Technical High School student was charged with selling marijuana brownies to other students, police announced Friday. The male student, who was not named, was charged with being a juvenile in possession of marijuana and distributing marijuana. The student resides in Dracut. Greater Lowell Tech is in Tyngsborough.

"Marijuana is not legal for children to buy, possess, or sell, and the Tyngsborough Police Department will not tolerate its presence or distribution in our schools," Tyngsborough Police Chief Richard Howe said. "The town of Tyngsborough is home to four secondary schools, and we are proud of the strong teamwork and collaboration that exists among our organizations. The safety, security, and welfare of our students is our first priority at all times."

Howe continued, "Police were notified by administrators at Greater Lowell Technical High School that a student was found be allegedly selling marijuana-laced brownies to other students. Police initiated an investigation, which led to the 16-year-old suspect being charged."

The student will be arraigned in the Middlesex County Juvenile Court in Lowell. Greater Lowell Tech serves students in Lowell, Tyngsborough, Dracut and Dunstable.
