Live Music and Sweets at Gary's

The Stable, a coffeehouse program at Matthew's Memorial Church, hosts a free outdoor concert at Gary's Ice Cream tomorrow.

Live outdoor music and ice cream make for a great summer evening with family, friends and fellow Chelmsfordians tomorrow.

The Stable Coffeehouse at is partnering with for their first ever off-site event, moving across the street to the popular ice cream stand. Various musicians will be taking the outdoor stage for acoustic performances. This event is open to all and takes place 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“Gary's is a staple in the Chelmsford community,” said Pastor Ryan Reveley of Matthew’s Memorial Church. “It is a popular place and it gives our church great exposure because we are right across the street. If we talk to anyone at the event who is interested in coming to church, we won't have to give them directions; we can just point across the street.”

The Stable will be providing free iced coffee to anyone who stops by the event. A raffle will also be held and the money received will help to support students of Community Christian Academy in Lowell that are in need of school supplies. Performers will include Stefani Bush of Chelmsford and other local musicians. Miah Webster and Sam Nadeau, both graduates of Community Christian Academy and former students of Reveley’s Bible class, will also take the stage.

“It will be a great opportunity for families to do something fun and free on a Saturday. There will be live music, free iced coffee, and it's at Gary's Ice Cream,” said Reveley. “Our goal at the Stable is to create an environment that is non-threatening for people to explore matters of faith through music and fellowship. We don't force Christianity down anyone's throat at these events.”

The Stable was an idea that church member Kurt Stahl had six years ago. An avid music lover and musician himself, Stahl saw an opportunity for a coffeehouse on the third Saturday of every month that featured different local and national acts with varieties of music including acoustic pop rock, country, rock and rap.

“This event will include upbeat acoustic rock, folk music and more,” said Stahl.

Last summer, The Stable hosted a successful at the church where Stahl and Gary Frascarelli, owner of Gary’s, came up with the idea to partner for this year’s event.

“We are excited to see new faces and look forward to having a great day on Saturday,” said Stahl. “Everything will be served up with a smile.”

Gary’s will be open during the event and selling all of their famous homemade ice cream treats, frappes and lime rickeys. Having his church across the street from the ice cream stand, Reveley has become a sweet tooth expert.

“My favorite ice cream at Gary's right now is the Negative Chocolate Chip-- chocolate ice cream with white chocolate chips,” said Reveley.
