Location Change for Styrofoam & Rigid Plastic Drop-off Saturday, Oct. 4

Saturday’s Styrofoam and Rigid Plastic Drop off has a new location. The event will take place at the DPW yard at 9 Alpha Road on Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Refoam.it will be collecting the styrofoam at our event. Bring styrofoam that has the recycling symbol 6 in the triangle with PS under the triangle. View the items that are accepted at the event.

Styrofoam:

The following foam articles will be accepted:

• Packing blocks
• CLEAN produce and meat trays
• (biodegradable trays do not have a recycle symbol)
• CLEAN take out containers
• Hot cups (e.g., Dunkin Donuts, Honey Dew, Cumberland Farms)
• - NOT McDonald’s or Burger King - paper is infused with the foam
• Foam egg cartons
• Trays
• White insulation sheets

These items will NOT be accepted:

• Plastic utensils
• Soft foam (e.g. pipe insulation)
• Foam cups infused with cardboard or paper (e.g., McDonald’s and Burger King)
• Biodegradable produce and meat trays (e.g., GenPak without the recycling symbol)
• Cardboard egg cartons
• Soft foam pads
• Food containers with plastic film attached
• Blue or pink insulation sheets unless in full size sheets (so they can be reused )
• Polypro looks like Styrofoam but has a number 5 recycle symbol and bends instead of snapping

What are RIGID PLASTICS?

Chelmsford will be taking rigid plastics on the same day as the shredding event. Some examples of rigid plastics include item include:

• Little Tikes® products (sandbox, playhouses, climbers, slides, furniture, etc.)
• Lawn/ table chairs
• Tables
• Laundry baskets
• Kiddie/dog pools
• Pool ladders
• Broken recycling bins
• Trash barrels and lids
• Large bins, totes, and containers
• Trunks
• Crates
• Storage chests

PLEASE DO NOT BRING THESE PLASTIC ITEMS:

• PVC pipes
• Plastic bags
• Plastic items that can go into curbside recycling
