Man Shot, Woman Assaulted in Lowell: Police

LOWELL, MA – A man was shot and a woman was assaulted in Lowell early Wednesday morning, according to the Lowell Police Department. The incidents occurred in the area of Read and 3rd streets around 4:30 a.m.

Both people sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Reports say there are two crime scenes – one at Read and 3rd and another in the parking lot of a 7-11 a block away – though it is unclear if there is any connection between them.
