New Location Offers More Space For Markus + Leslie's Art, Fashion
Local boutique changes street number and ups the ante for local art and fashion.
Markus and Leslie Lewis have much to celebrate this weekend.
After 22 years, the artsy couple has moved their appropriately-titled boutique, , to a larger, more fitting location that they believe will make their successful store even better.
Their store has moved from 8 Alpine Lane to 6 Alpine Lane. Only a small difference, but it has brought some big changes for the business.

“Our new location gives us the ability to include so many new things,” said Markus Lewis. “We really loved the visibility of the location, saw potential and took a leap.”
Both Lewis and his wife are looking forward to the rebirth of their boutique.

“We are so excited to show the community all the new additions we’ve made," he said.
Perhaps the largest addition made to the Markus + Leslie is the installation of a new art studio and gallery. Lewis said both new rooms are opportunities for his family to show off their other kinds of art that some customers did not know existed.
“Leslie and I do many kinds of art, and we want to show the public these pieces. We really want to present art that is available and affordable," he said.
One of the most cost-friendly sections of the gallery, according to Lewis, is the one-of-a-kind “restroom gallery”.
“We literally have art for sale in the restrooms that are very affordable,” he said.
Other quirks at Markus + Leslie found outside the restroom area are hand painted crafts, gifts, jewelry and of course, fashion.
“We have really expanded our fashion items,” said Lewis. “We have new additions for more adult-like clothing. Women in their 20s will love our new clothes. It’s all very cutting-edge.”
Another fashionable addition Lewis is excited about is a spring theme coming early. According to Lewis, the boutique will soon be home to a unique collection of hand painted gowns as well as other items in a fall preview line.
“Everything about our new location is really all about the art,” he said. “We both have been doing art for over 25 years and want to show it in all its forms.”
Lewis hopes that the Chelmsford community will come see the art show at the beloved shop’s grand opening tonight at its now location at 4 Alpine Lane.
“We are so pleased to be in a town like Chelmsford, where a small town keeps a small business alive. It just shows how much support we get,” said Lewis. “We want to give back to the town by showing affordable, beautiful art.”
Lewis invites Chelmsfordians to join his family in celebrating the grand opening of the new Markus + Leslie. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be served at the event, which begins at tonight at 5 p.m. He also said sales and specials on most items in the store will be offered this weekend only.
“Come celebrate our growth by relaxing and looking at gorgeous art,” Lewis said. “We are really excited to show Chelmsford some wonderful things.”
