Richardson Road Project Still a Hot Topic

According to the Lowell Sun, a potential recycling plant on Richardson Road may have hit a speed bump recently.

Chelmsford's Board of Selectmen is slated to vote on a potential Richardson Road recycling facility on Monday night. But one thing is already clear - not everyone in town is on board with the proposal.

According to an article in the Lowell Sun, the North Chelmsford Water District is opposed to any proposal for the current location of the Department of Public Works. That includes a potential recycling facility, the newspaper reported.

Officials such as Recycling Coordinator Nick Parlee, however, believe that the facility would lead to more recycling, and therefore save the town money.

"It's going to be, not a revenue generator, but an offset to sanitation costs," Parlee told The Sun.

Board of Selectmen members are slated for a vote during Monday's meeting, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Town Hall, Room 204. The Sun reported that support is expected by selectmen and the project could potentially open by August 1.
