Russell is Recipient of Boston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award
Grant Thornton LLP admits new managing director to the firm's Boston office.

Grant Thornton LLP, the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd, named Lisa Russell managing director in the firm’s Boston office, effective October 1st.
Russell has been with Grant Thornton since she began her career in public accounting 14 years ago, and previously held the role of audit senior manager. As a leader in the Grant Thornton Technology Practice, she is highly regarded as a resource in software revenue recognition and is a key driver for the firm’s major software clients. Additionally she has significant experience in the fields of manufacturing and commercial distribution. Russell ensures that Grant Thornton staff stays abreast of new developments and regulations, and runs numerous local and regional technical training sessions. The Grant Thornton Boston office previously recognized Russell’s dedication by bestowing the Guiding Principles Honor for her influence on staff development, commitment to high standards and high-quality work ethic.

In addition, The Boston Business Journal has named Russell recipient of its 40 Under 40 Award. Forty Under 40 awards honor business and civic leaders under 40 who collectively represent the next wave of talent and commitment in the Boston economy. This year, judges reviewed more than 500 nominations, considering both professional achievements and community involvement in making their decisions. The 2011 winners were recognized at a reception in Boston on October 6.
“Lisa’s exceptional leadership abilities, client devotion and community commitment merit her ascension to the role of managing director,” said Scott Levy, managing partner of Grant Thornton LLP’s Boston.

Outside of the office, Russell volunteers for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. For more than eight years, she has assembled and led groups of Grant Thornton accountants to volunteer and work for the annual event, in support of the fight against breast cancer. She is also a supporter of Children’s Hospital Boston, Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Foundation. Russell graduated from the University of Washington, with a major in business administration and concentrations in accounting and information systems. A native of Seattle, she currently lives in Chelmsford, Mass.
