Snow Clean Up Continues in Chelmsford

Crews continue work to widen roads and clear sidewalks throughout town following the unprecedented snowfall.

The Chelmsford Department of Public Works Highway Division continues to work throughout town to push back snow banks/intersections, to widen roads and to clear sidewalks in each section of town. Chelmsford has 230 miles of road, more than 600 roads with approx. 1,200 intersections and corners.

Due to the frequency of storms and the significant amount of snow that has fallen over the past few weeks, the process of clearing snow gets interrupted when we need to plow during storms.

Public Works officials say when widening roads, snow may be pushed into resident’s driveways. Because of that, the department has plows following our loaders to clear snow from driveways (approx. 12,000).
