Chelmsford Girls 6 entered the prestigious Acton-Boxboro February Vacation Tournament with high hopes. Those hopes were quickly dashed as they ran into 2 titans – 1 from Charlton and 1 from Acton-Boxboro.
The girls opened the tourney losing to undefeated Charlton by the score of 39-16. It took the girls a long time to adjust to Charlton’s style of play, as they fell behind early 15-0. Eventually, the girls calmed down and played much better the remainder of the way.
Alessandra Lebrun was a shining star in the game – finishing strong inside and hitting from the outside as well to lead the team with 9 points. Tiffany Cheok, Natalie Tierney, and Abbey Quirbach rounded out the scoring.

In their 2nd game, the girls lost to Acton-Boxborough 29-11. Despite working hard and not backing down, AB’s size proved too much to overcome. Megan Hill and Rory Plunkett played well in defeat.
The resilient team finished the tourney with an exciting win over Maynard, 29-28. Abbey Quirbach had a phenomenal game, scoring 12 points and driving to the hoop at will. Nicole McGinty (5 points) had the winning foul shot with less than a minute remaining and Grace Dionne also played well.
