Town Buys Warehouse For Public Works Facility

The building and adjacent parcel at 9 Alpha Road cost $2.75 million.

Town Manager Paul Cohen said the town purchased a warehouse Thursday at 9 Alpha Road for a new Department of Public Works facility.

The entire property purchase, which includes an adjacent parcel of vacant land, cost $2.75 million, said Cohen.

The department currently uses trailers as office space at its site on Richardson Road.

At last spring's annual Town Meeting, voters approved $5 million to buy the warehouse and pay for the first phase of renovations of the building, said Cohen.

The town will replace the roof of the building before winter, Cohen said.  Weston and Sampson, Inc., is architect and engineer for the project.
