Utility Companies Have a New Way to Speed Post-storm Infrastructure Recovery Efforts
ASSIST Aviation Solutions, LLC, offers MA utility companies a new video storm survey service, available now

Nashua, NH--ASSIST Aviation Solutions, LLC, Nashua, NH, is available now to support electrical utilities’ pre-storm preparations and post-storm infrastructure recovery efforts with its Right-of-Way (ROW) video survey service. Using a vehicle-mounted optical sensor, ASSIST collects high definition video of distribution lines, integrating location and other metadata to identify and document potential trouble spots before a storm and to assess damage afterwards. Over 100 miles of transmission line data can be collected in a single day to pinpoint vegetation encroachment, broken insulators, damaged or broken poles, downed lines and other causes of power disruption.
Data collected by ASSIST aided the post-storm recovery efforts of UNITIL, a NH utility, during the recent Thanksgiving snowstorm.
“Assist Aviation Solutions provided us with high definition street view imagery of the overhead distribution utility lines and adjacent trees after the Concord, NH, area was impacted by a heavy wet snow event. The imagery provided was absolutely stunning. It was crystal clear, steady, and very easy to view. The imagery is so powerful that I will be using the footage for analysis and program justification and development purposes. I am beyond thrilled at the product I received and the level of support and customization we continue to have from Assist. “ -- Sara Sankowich – System Arborist, Unitil
