Locals gathered Friday night to attend Valerie Wormell’s campaign kick-off at Butter Brook Golf Club in Westford.

When Wormell saw a need for more state aid, she decided to run for State Representative. She mentioned that recently, there has been a decline in state aid and she feels it is important for a number of reasons.
“State aid is what we rely on to fund education,” said Wormell. She said we all know what we have to do in terms of keeping our taxes down, and that in order to keep them down, we need state aid.

Wormell said she is willing to fight for her cause by listening to voters and communicating ideas. Wormell said many voters become frustrated when politicians make promises that aren’t always fulfilled, but she is able to guarantee one thing for sure.
“I’ll make you a promise that I’m 100 percent sure I’ll fulfill and that is to communicate,” said Wormell. Wormell said government should always be about a compromise, and when no one stands up, there is no compromise. She said it's important that she respects and listen to the voter’s opinion.
“If I think I can do it, I’m going to go out there and do it,” said Wormell, “I’ll go get the state aid that our towns need.”
