Which Road in Chelmsford Needs a Speed Bump?
We asked Patch readers on Facebook what streets they thought needed a speed bump. Find out what your neighbors told us.

Chelmsford, MA- Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driver’s age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.
While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including Chelmsford. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

- "Linwood St. They just paved the top half last week which has basically turned it into a freeway. It is used as a cut through from Rt. 4 to Dalton Rd. by MANY people, especially during morning and evening rush hour to avoid traffic, and might I add without any consideration for children or dog walkers."
- "Turnpike Road"
- "Dalton"
- "Gorham Street and Carlisle Street. Big cut through from the highway cars travel way too fast."
- "Westford Street. We seem to have a natural road crossing between our house and a neighbor, with deer, turkeys, bobcat, and lots of other animals crossing the road. Have seen people come flying down the road and have to slam the brakes on to avoid a big mess. Neighbors have had 2 dogs hit, also."
- "Mill Road"
