2Volunteer Expands its Services

Community service can be accessed online.

The community-based group at CCHS, 2Volunteer, which assists students with fulfilling their community service needs and desires, has launched a comprehensive new website which for the first time permits on-line reporting of volunteer work.

It is expected that the on-line system will alleviate a CCHS Administration workload as well as make the reporting process much easier for students.  In addition, the new website makes the job of matching student interests with community volunteer needs much easier.

The new website was funded by a grant from the CCHS Parents Association, with the enthusiastic support of Principal Peter Badalament, the Assistant Principals Alan Weinstein and Jessica Truslow, and the Guidance Department.

Last Spring, a CCHS Community Service Advisory Committee was formed, including Administrators, Guidance Counselors, Teachers, the Community Chest Executive Director Astrid Williams, and Students, as well as the members of the Executive Committee of 2Volunteer, including Laura Close, Kathy Dwyer, David Holdorf, Barbara Howland, and Ann Trudeau, as well as past member Geeta Krishna.

Community organizations who are in need of student volunteers can contact  2volunteer@colonial.net to request listing of their needs on this new website.
The new website is located at www.2volunteeronline.org, or through the CCHS Home Page.
