"Beastie" Weekend: Watercolor Opening

Artisans Way, a fine art and contemporary craft gallery in Concord, MA, welcomes watercolorist Mike Driscoll on March 19 and 20.

Artisans Way, a fine art and contemporary craft gallery in Concord, MA, welcomes watercolorist Mike Driscoll on March 19 and 20. He will be in the gallery Saturday from 10-4 and Sunday from 12-5 to introduce his new collection of colorful watercolor characters known as “Beasties.” Mike will answer questions about his inspirations, techniques, and artistic vision.

His current work, aside from his playful “Beastie” creatures, focuses on scenes and landscapes. Included in the scope of his work are fields, mountains, woods and lake images throughout the seasons with a special emphasis on Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Originally from Massachusetts, Mike Driscoll is a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston. For more than 35 years, he was an illustrator and storyboard artist. During his career he headed the Illustration Department at Hill Holliday Advertising in Boston. He then went on to a freelance career with his own studio on Clarendon Street in Boston.

Mike is now retired and paints watercolors, runs a small frame shop, and does the occasional illustration assignment, with a specialty in caricature. He is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association and the Deerfield, NH Art Tour, an open studios event held every October.
