C-C Softball Set to Open Postseason Play
Patriots looking to make more noise in North Div. 1 tournament.

Last year, during its first time competing in the Division 1 tournament, the softball team made waves by capturing the North D-1 title and advancing to the state tournament. This time around the Patriots are looking to churn things up even more.
C-C was tabbed as the No. 4 seed in this year’s D-1 North sectional by virtue of its 17-3 record when the MIAA recently released postseason pairings. Following a Preliminary Round bye, the Patriots will begin the postseason against No. 14 Woburn High School in the First Round on Thursday. This is the second straight year the two will meet in the First Round.
The Tanners too were awarded a bye out of the Preliminary Round. The First Round affair will be hosted by the Patriots and is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start. Woburn and Concord-Carlisle did not meet during the regular season.

In the 2010 postseason, C-C showed it belonged by knocking off Woburn, then the No. 18 seed, followed by wins over No. 10 Chelmsford in the Quarterfinals and No. 3 and archrival Acton-Boxboro in the semifinals.
Then, in the sectional championship, the Patriots took out an upstart No. 12 Lexington team, which was coming off D-1 state championships in 2008 and ’09.
