Players of the Week - Week of May 13
Hillside Medical Associates Hillside Medical Associates players of the week for the week of May 13th are Chris Knauss and Mickey Feeney.In Hillsides thrilling, pulsating, come from behind win over Acton Toyota of Littleton on Monday, Knauss led off the game with a double and scored Hillside's first run.
Then in the 6th inning, with his team trailing 3 to 2, he led off and reached first base dramatically with a perfectly executed drag bunt,
then came around to score the tying run in the eventual 5 to 4 win.
Feeney's big bat was a major factor in the teams Saturday win over Wheelhouse. His RBI double and three total hits led the Hillside offensive attack.
He also scored a run and produced four runs batted in. As part of Hillside's battery in the last two innings, his steady work as catcher
helped Hillside finish out the 19 to 6 victory.
Rotary Club of Concord This week, the Concord Rotary Royals rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the bottom of the last inning to win 7-5. James Grant contributed to the turn-around with strong defensive play at 2B. The Royals also defeated Brine Sporting Goods in a very evenly-matched contest. Brine rallied back from a 6-2 shortfall to tie the score in the 4th inning before Hugh Easton quieted the rally with a diving catch to end the inning. Noah Alter showed his tenacity at the dish in several great at-bats, one where late in the game he ripped a two-bagger to plate 2 runners to give the Royals the lead for good. New London Pizza Player of the week for New London Pizza is Cameron Emde-Gerdine
Cam led New London Style Pizza hitting .555 and 3 RBI's. He also pitched 4 strong innings with 8 strikeouts. Acton Toyota Acton Toyota has been getting better all year and posted two wins last week. Charlie Hibben has one of the best batting averages on the team and he continued with the hits last week. Jason Genova has been hitting the ball hard but its been going right to someone. But last week he finally found the gaps and was able to keep a rally going in one of the wins.
Wheelhouse Sawyer Murphy is the Wheelhouse Player of the Week. In one of his first pitching performances of the season Sawyer twirled three shutout innings. He also was a jack-of-all-positions, manning catcher, first base and CF in flawless fashion. Murphy laced one of the hardest-hit balls of the season, driving a pitch deep into center field for extra bases. Brines Sporting Goods Brine Sporting Goods Little League Majors is Player of the Week is Blake Hatch.
Hatch went 3 for 5 with a triple. Hatch also made several nice plays at third and catcher.
Hatch threw out a base stealer and made a nice tag to stop a run from scoring.
