(Boston, MA) – June 22, 2026 – National Braille Press (NBP) welcomed the Concord Lions Club to the offices last March. The team volunteered to sponsor last month’s “Children’s Braille Book Club” book. The book was the Dr. Seuss classic, The Lorax.

The Concord Lions team arrived at the office excited to help assemble the print-braille copies of The Lorax. Here they were able to learn all about how braille copies are made and help put the books together firsthand. They sponsored and helped put together a total of 450 books. NBP always distributes 325 free copies to families who have blind children or families of a blind parent.

“The Concord Massachusetts Lions Club has enjoyed fundraising and being part of creation of The Lorax being printed in Braille! It was a humbling experience for us to be part of creating a reading experience for families that read Braille in their homes. The National Braille Press was wonderful to work with and we are looking forward to more future projects with them,” said the Concord Lions team.

During their visit, they also presented the NBP team with a generous $10,000 gift. This funded the entire run of all the copies of The Lorax they assembled, which was the April book in the NBP Children’s Braille Book Club.

“Spending the day alongside the Concord Lions Club, while they assembled each copy of The Lorax by hand, was a great experience,” said Joe Quintanilla, Vice President of Development of National Braille Press. “Knowing that every book they created will soon be in the hands of a child was a powerful reminder of why this work matters.”

Every month, the NBP editors choose a popular, classic children’s book to be the official featured print/braille book of Children’s Braille Book Club. All books are available in a print/braille format for your whole family to enjoy.

“Welcoming the Concord Lions Club into our space was truly inspiring,” said Brian MacDonald, President of National Braille Press. “Their hands-on involvement in assembling The Lorax and their generous support exemplify the kind of partnership that makes our mission possible. Because of their commitment, hundreds of children will have access to a beloved story in braille, reinforcing that literacy should be accessible to all, without added barriers or cost.”

National Braille Press works with corporations and organizations on volunteer projects to support braille literacy. They are always committed to their mission of making sure that the visually impaired never have to pay more for the same information, as braille costs three times more to produce than traditional.
