CONCORD, MA—A Concord Police Officer offered some inspiration to a young girl who was told that she couldn't be a police officer because she was a girl.

According to the Concord Police Chief Joseph O'Connor, a Concord mother took her young daughter to the police department after her daughter was told that she couldn't be a "cop" during a game of "Cops and Robbers" because she was a girl. O'Connor told Patch that the mother felt it was important for her daughter to meet a female police officer.

That's when Officer Kallie Koppenal stepped in.

When the mother and daughter arrived at the police station, they were introduced to Koppenal, who told the young girl that she could be whatever she wanted to when she grows up.

The girl's mother penned a letter of thanks to Officer Koppenal, posted on the Concord Police Department's Facebook Page, which can be found below.

"Dear Officer Koppenal,
Thank you for meeting my 3 year old daughter (name omitted) today at the Concord Police Department . It was important for her to see and speak with a woman Police Officer to show her that there is no limit to her own abilities. Thank you for being a good example to my daughter and thank you for all you do for the community."

Officer Koppenal was not immediately available for comment. Check back with Patch for comments from Koppenal later this afternoon.
