Concord Town Manager Submits 2017 Budget Proposal

The 2017 proposed budget reflects a 3.8 percent increase in the Town Government budget.

CONCORD, MA—Concord Town Manager Christopher Whelan has submitted his 2017 fiscal year Town Budget.

Whelan’s budget calls for a 2.2 percent overall increase from the 2016 fiscal year budget and a 3.8 percent increase in the Town Government budget. Concord’s public school budget will see a 2.2 percent increase.

Public Health and Safety was outlined as a top need of the town in the budget. Whelan’s budget proposes a $140,000 expenditure to replace four police patrol vehicles and a $150,000 expenditure to replace Engine 3. Whelan also proposed an addition of a second ambulance in West Concord.

Whelan also proposed that $560,000 of the Salary Reserve Fund be used for structure and merit/step increases for non-union personnel.
