UPDATE: Concord Water Customers to Be Without Service Temporarily

A water main leak has closed a portion of Cambridge Turnpike in Concord.

CONCORD, MA—A water main leak has closed a portion of the Cambridge Turnpike Friday.

Concord Police reported via their Twitter Account that Cambridge Turnpike from Rte. 2 to Lexington Rd. was closed. Crews are on scene making repairs.

As of 3:23 p.m. traffic is limited to local residents and emergency vehicles between Lexington Rd. and Concord Turnpike. Commuters are asked to seek alternate routes.

According to a release from Concord Public Works, that warned residents of low or no water pressure, it is currently unknown how long the crews will be at work but residents can expect the project to continue for several hours. Some customers my experience brown water.

The release also stated that customers east of Hawthorne Lane along the Cambridge Turnpike, including customers on Mildred Circle and Sandy Pond Lane, will be without water until the repairs are complete.

Those in the area of the break may experience fluctuating pressure or discolored water. Running a cold tap for a short time can help clean service lines of air and materials.

The conditions are expected to improve overnight.
