“The conference-wide committee responsible for calculating win-loss records and assigning playoff pairings mistakenly placed Minuteman ahead of another school in the standings,” says Dr. Ed Bouquillon, Superintendent of Minuteman. “I will be requesting a review from the MIAA, not so much to remedy this situation, but to avoid similar situations from occurring in the future. To be clear, the other school, Lynn Tech, deserves to be in the game and we wish them well. I do feel badly for our student athletes and their families, as everyone was excited for the opportunity to compete in this game and represent our school. I want to again congratulate our team and our coach on a great year.”

In an email statement reported in the Boston Herald yesterday, Michele Denise, a representative of the Vocational Committee and the Athletic Director of Blackstone Valley, wrote, “A mistake was made in the calculation of percentages for both Lynn Tech and Minuteman. Lynn Tech was listed [with] an extra loss and Minuteman [was] listed without an additional loss. As a result when these two mistakes were found we tried to quickly and efficiently make the change in match-ups. Neither mistake was due to the schools, in fact several sets of eyes had reviewed the records and percentages and it was not found until late yesterday afternoon.”
